Its been noted that the state education officials got a plan to change their way in regards to the report towards the rate of Oregon high school drop out in this coming school year through releasing the data based on how several learners will be able to graduate within the range of four years. This new measurement system will start categorizing the learners who are earning a GEDs rather than a high school diploma as being dropouts. According to Susan Smith who is the spokeswoman of the Oregon Department of Education stated that with this measurement system, it will about to count the school districts especially if they got a high number of GED and as well determine if the learners have taken an Extra year to graduates. Aside of that, if they got a need of five years in order to graduate that will entirely count against the districts as well. The state education officials got a long calculated dropouts rate through the schools and the districts that been followed by the learners over one year period not just only for four years.

Susan Smith stated that it does a lot of sense of using this new drop out rate because it can track the group of high school learners who are dropping out from their high school education and as well the barriers that stands their way for not continuing their high school education program can also be determine. This coming June 2009, the school district of Oregon state will eventually receive a preview about this new measurement rate of dropouts that been design for high school students. According to Vicki Van Buren who is the chief academic officer of high school education in Bend La Pine school stated that this new tracking method that been develop will support the high school student learning institutes be aware and got a better understanding about the dropping rate of high school learners. Not only that, but with this data measurement for drop out learners will allow to provide support towards those learners who are struggling over their academics or some other concern to be supported and can be able to work it out and do much better in their educational learning.

This coming April 2010, its formally scheduled that the state will release a percentage rate towards high school learners who graduated in 2009 and to those learners who have just dropped out from their class. In the past academic year 2007-2008, the state had already released a one year drop out numbers that indicate the number of high school learners who have just registered in fall but just quite their schooling before the end of June. In that case, it shows that the yearly drop outs rate increases for about 10 percent. Indeed, having this information data can provide a good venue for the different high school student schools to find some ways in order to less down this drop out ratings and bring back those learners who have dropped out from their high school education.
