Lyons Community School

Overview written by the school: Lyons prepares students for college, healthy adulthood, and lifelong learning. As a NYS Performance Standards Consortium school, for graduation, students are exempt from Regents exams except ELA. Instead, students present final Performance-Based Assessment Tasks (PBATs). Ninth and tenth grade students participate in roundtables where they present a final piece of work to staff, families, and visitors in small groups. Eleventh and twelfth grade students complete semester-long projects in a given content area. All students have an advisor and are offered elective classes to pursue their individual academic and career interests. We are a Restorative Justice school, offering support and structure, not punishment, for disciplinary matters.
